Six pupils from Years 5 and 6 secured an incredible victory at the IAPS National Tennis Championships held at Clifton College, Bristol, on the 17th and 18th of June. Competing against over thirty top schools, our teams excelled, with Philip and Dhru winning the U11 title and Max and Sergey securing the U13 title, marking a historic achievement for our school.
Max and Sergey, representing the U13 category, demonstrated exceptional skill and determination throughout the tournament. They achieved impressive victories against Caldicott and Aldwickbury, culminating in a decisive win against Feltonfleet in the final, securing the U13 title for our school.
In the U11 category, Philip and Dhru formed the A pairing and displayed outstanding performance by winning all their matches. They secured first place with only one set lost in five games, with Philip conceding just seven games in singles matches.
The U11 B pairing of Oscar and Austin showed resilience and competitive spirit, starting strong with a win over St Faith’s. Despite facing challenging against Feltonfleet pairs, Oscar and Austin played a crucial role in securing Westminster Under School’s second title of the day
This achievement by our tennis players is both amazing and historic in a sport that grows stronger each year. The boys exhibited great strength of character to perform at the highest level over two days, particularly demonstrated in the semi-finals by our U11 team. Their success has firmly placed Westminster Under School on the sporting map for Tennis.
